DEGRAW FEST 2018

Really excited to be back playing for Degraw Fest 2018.

I've become close friends with many of the bands in Degraw Sound's roster over the year, and this festival is like a big family reunion.

See your pretty face there. I'm on at 2:30pm.

Danse with Me

On set for "Slow Danse" music video, slated for release early 2018.

The month before the new year is always a time for reflection.

This behind-the-scenes image captures the mood I'm in, and the mood I've been in, for the back half of the year. Always grateful for the year behind me, excited for the year ahead. Can't wait to ring in the new year with you all.

Feverish Florals

Not many of you know this, but this piece of floral silk was the inspiration behind the artwork for my singles "That Kind of Love" and "Fallen in Five", off my 2nd EP. I love the way the florals create its own framework...the luster of silk charmeuse...the flow of petals...the two tone simplicity.

For the fashionistas out there - it's a vintage floral design from the Versace archives. Found this slice of silk at a thrift shop and have been using it as a keyboard cover for my Nord. I could've made a dress out of it but at the time, the Nord seemed like it could use a little love. And by now it's a tad too skimpy for a dress...or not? So there you go.

Fall Feels

Ensemble #1 for the video shoot for "Slow Danse," my third and final release from my sophomore EP. Sick styling by my dear and talented friend Curvel and his crew. We headed up north to the Bronx to soak up some fall foliage, rays, and crisp air vibes. Stay tuned for the release!

Summer Breezin'

Feeling exhausted after a day of dancin', shakin' groovin' with some best friends at Panorama Festival this year. Vance Joy, M0, Future Islands, MGMT, Solange, and Frank Ocean all provided a luminous and crazy soundscape for the day. Not shown: a final collapse on the grass, post-show.

WALKING THRU ZEN

Spending an afternoon at the Noguchi museum can really calm the soul.

After a whirlwind and exciting week of releasing my single "That Kind of Love," and hosting an intimate and celebratory listening party at my humble Brooklyn studio, I trekked out to Queens this weekend to walk on the lit side of Noguchi in the company of his famous paper lamps. A finale of the museum tour with a stroll in his sculpture garden completed the zen.

I highly recommend a visit.

MAKING AN ENTRANCE

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

2017...new beginnings, new projects, new songs.

I'm so thankful for my friends, collaborators, and family who have supported me on this ride. 2016 was a crazy good year with the European tour, shows in NYC and Brooklyn, the making of music videos, and meeting of musical minds. I have a feeling that 2017 will be even bigger and better.

Kicking off 2017 with a Remix album of Strangers & Lovers EP.  An artistic culmination and collaboration with dear and talented friends COESEN (music) and Hashem Eaddy (photography). Listen, groove, and dance to the brilliant beats that upcycle the essence of Sophie in celebrated rhythm.

3...2...1...

Countdown to 2017!

Reflecting now on lots of changes in the past year, some more blurred than others, lots of ups and a few downs. C'est la vie. The most important thing is to enjoy the journey, embrace the moments, count the blessings. Smile and dance more. Life is to be celebrated.

See you on the flip side. Kicking off 2017 with a video release party, Remix release, and sessions in the studio to make some more music and magic.

Thank you for making 2016 an incredible year. xxsophie

Easy like Sunday...Afternoon

Beautiful Hangs happened today. I had the pleasure of playing a bill with some amazing musicians for an afternoon filled with warm and fuzzies, gutter-folk, and an electric violin played a multitude of ways. Babies came and danced. Tacos and Beer were consumed. Saw old friends, met new faces, breathed fresh winter air. Easily one of my favorite performances of the year.

Them Beautiful Babies

Sometimes kids take you by surprise - you never know what will make them move, dance, laugh, cry. These adorable babies came in the middle of my show and just started dancing. They were strangers, then became friends by the end of my song, "Strangers and Lovers." It was serendipitous and beautiful. Charming, poignant, and memorable.

Naturally, they stole the spotlight. But I'll let it go this time.

LIVING THE DREAM

FLASHBACK TO WINTER 2015, WHEN I SPENT 4 MONTHS IN THE STUDIO WHERE THE CONCEPTION, RECORDING, AND PRODUCING OF 'STRANGERS & LOVERS' EP CAME TO LIFE.

SIPPING SOME BREW BETWEEN VOCAL TAKES, AND LEARNING WHAT A "PAD" EFFECT REALLY IS AND THE POWER OF IT.  THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE WAS A DIFFERENT KIND OF LOVE. AND I LOVE SHARING IT WITH YOU!

MORE MUSIC TO COME! LOOKING FORWARD TO A NEW RECORDING PROJECT NEXT YEAR. STAY TUNED.
